Project Description:
This project
located in the Central Business District of Downtown Houston consists
of the reconstruction of concrete/asphalt pavement, construction of
multi-method construction process (open cut and tunnel) of the storm sewer
system (9’x 8’- 10’x 10’ reinforced concrete boxes), rehabilitation of the
existing storm sewer, utility replacement, new sidewalks, enhanced
landscaping, new street lights and new traffic signals. RBI, as the prime
Design Consultant was responsible for the preparation of the preliminary
engineering report, final construction drawings and the specifications for a
total of six city blocks.
Construction Management services provided include the following:

Maintaining communication with the contractor, design and City staff.

Monitor construction for compliance.

Coordinate shop drawings, submittals, RFIs and change proposals.

Prepare
documentation and recommendation for proposed field changes.
-
Estimate costs and negotiate equitable settlement of field changes.
-
Process Contractor’s monthly pay estimates and testing laboratory invoices.
-
Review
and certify monthly invoices from contractor.
-
Monthly progress meetings with Contractor, Inspector, Design Staff & Owner.

Prepare & maintain a list of field problems; issue meeting agenda and
minutes.

Initiate & conduct coordination meetings.

Testing
firm(s).

Review
material testing lab reports.

Coordinate all aspects of construction activities.

Prepare response to business/citizen complaints.

Assist
Inspector(s) in generating Substantially Complete punch list(s) and

Final
inspection documentation.

Review
Contractor’s final “As-Built” Drawings after review by the Inspector.

Project budgets, cost monitoring and scheduling.
